Chicago Meets Rome

– The Legendary American band will be offering a Concert as a part of the summer Festival July Sounds Good. Our blogger Jona has all the info for you.


The Band Chicago will be in concert in Rome, July 9, 2011 at Cavea 21 at the Auditorium Parco della Musica as a part of the festival July Sounds Good 2011. The  band was formed in 1967 and took its name from their native city. They have scored many important hits during their career, like If You Leave Me Now (1976) and Hard to Say I’m Sorry (1982).

The band has gone throungh many stylistic changes over the years, playing everything from progressive rock to jazz,  experimental music and melodic rock.

The band that will perform on stage will see Robert Lamm  on keyboards and vocals, Lee Loughnane (trumpet), James Pankow (trombone), Walt Parazaider (reeds), Jason Scheff (bass and vocals), Tris Imboden (drums), Keith Howland ( guitar), Lou Pardini (keyboards and vocals) and Drew Hester (percussion).


Chicago has sold more than 38 million records sold in the U.S., thus winning 22 gold albums, 25

platinum and 8 multiplatinum. Among their accolades they have a Grammy Award, several American Music Awards a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Chicago and they even had a road named after them.

Internazionali BNL D’Italia: The Best Tennis Comes to Rome

-Tennis anyone? the city is just recovering from a weekend packed with emotions and there’s more to come: as every May, some of the best tennis players in the world will be in the city to dispute the most prestigious Italian tournament.


After an exciting weekend that included the canonization of pope John Paul II and the traditionally intense concert of May the 1st Rome is getting ready now for one of its world-class yearly appointments: the tennis tournament Internazionali BNL d’Italia.

The defending champion is the Spanish sensation Rafael Nadal, who will try to go home with the trophy for the second time in a row. Six Nations 2011 in Rome!

– Rugby enthusiasts will flock from all around the world to the Eternal City to assist to the competion where the most powerful European teams fight for sportive glory.

RBS-Six-Nations-Rugby-2010As every year, rugby fans from all around the world are rubbing their hands in anticipation for the upcoming edition of the 6 nations championship to take place beetwen February 4 and 19 March 2011.

The tournament brings together on a yearly basis the most powerful European rugby teams to compete for the continetal championship. The system is quite simple: each team plays every other team once, with home field advantage alternating from one year to the next. When a team wins a championship without being defeated it achieves a Grand Slam.


Of course, the most powerful teams are those with a strong rugby tradition like Ireland or England, but more “latin” countries like France and, more recently, Italy are developing a growing passion for the sport drawing bigger crowds to the stadiums each year.

On this edition of the tournament Italy will be playing in its home filed, the Sadio Flaminio in Rome, against ireland on February 5; Wales on February 26 and France on March 12. All the matches are great opportunities for Rugby enthusiasts to enjoy their favorite sport while getting to know one of the most beautiful cities in the world!
