ROME’S OPERA HOUSE STARTS WITH A LYRIC FAIRY TALE

A water sprite inhabiting a lake, a human prince, a forbidden love: these the evocative ingredients chosen by Rome’s Opera House (Teatro dell’Opera di Roma) to begin its 2014-2015 season.
“Rusalka” by Antonin Dvorak will be on stage on 27 November 2014 at Teatro Costanzi at 7 pm (a number of performances scheduled in the month of December as well). Tickets on sale from €23. The plot recalls many features from Slavic mythology, and is loosely inspired by elements which also appear in other well-known fairy tales: Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Little Mermaid”, and “Undine” by German writer Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué.
Performed for the first time in Prague in 1901, “Rusalka” represents one of the peaks of Czech opera repertoire and has recently gained more and more fame being staged worldwide by major opera companies in the past 5 years.
Hotel Des Artistes is located at just one metro stop distance from the opera house (or alternatively 15 minutes walk): you can book with us to enjoy a night at the opera in total comfort.opera-rusalka-2015_1
