Under the title Piranesi, Rembrandt of the Ruins, the Casa…
March marks the beginning of several important exhibitions in Rome, that dedicated to French painter Matisse being one of the most awaited.
From March 6th to June 21th, over one hundred paintings by the artists will be on display in the enchanting backdrop of Scuderie del QuIrinale (opposite the Quirinal Palace and easily reachable from the shopping venue of Via Nazionale). Matisse’s works of art on show belong to some of the most prestigious museums in the world: Tate, MET, MoMa, Puškin, Ermitage, Pompidou, Orangerie, Philadelphia, Washington, only to name a few.
Leading theme of the exhibit is the particular use of the arabesque motif which the author derived from his journeyS in the East. As Matisse himself used to say, those arabesque are not overwhelming compared to the overall composition; they rather enrich the work through a perfect integration with the other elements.
