Rodrigo y Gabriela, also known as El Rodi y La…
The latest film festival in Rome is entirely focused on the Green Island: it’s the IrishFilmFesta!
From March 26 to 29, 2015, presentations, meetings with Irish guests (directors, actors, screenwriters and producers), debates and most of all movie shows made in Ireland will take place at Casa del Cinema di Roma. New movies as well as old unedited classics will be shown in original version (including Gaelic!) with subtitles.
IrishFilmFesta, set by Culture Ireland, the Irish Film Board, Tourism Ireland and Irish Embassy to Italy together with the Italian association Archimedia, is meant to promote Irish cinema, a less known cinema industry which “hardly crosses Irish borders, and even when it does, it is often considered English or American. So far, the only film makers which managed to gain international popularity are Neil Jordan and Jim Sheridan. But Irish cinema generated many more talents, and in the last years is being characterized by a remarkable artistic variety, which needs to be exported” as we read from the event manifesto.
Shows at 2015 IrishFilmFesta will be from 5pm (3.30pm on the weekend). There is no entrance fee, but you can support IrishFilmFesta with a minimum donation of € 50 if you like, which will guarantee a seat reserved to you for the whole duration of the event.
Casa del Cinema is inside Villa Borghese, at few metro stops from us: our staff at Hotel Des Artistes will be glad to provide you with directions!
