Big celebrations are planned for St. Patrick’s Day! The Irish expats and all the Green Island lovers will have the chance to enjoy this traditional festivity starting from tonight, with the Global Greening appointment, this year involving Rome for the first time: the Colosseum will be englighted in green at 7.30 pm tonight March 16th, likewise more than eighty landmarks all over the world (such as the Niagara Falls, the Christ the Redeemer’s statue in Rio de Janeiro, the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai, the London Eye and the Cibeles Fountain in Madrid).
The proper religious celebration in Rome will take place tomorrow at 10 am, when Cardinal Prosper Grech will officiate the Mass for Lá Fhéile Pádraig at St. Patrick’s Church on via Boncompagni 31 (metro line A stop: Barberini).
Later on the eight edition of the IrishFilmFesta will be presented at the Irish embassy: beginning on March 26th it will take place at Casa del Cinema of Villa Borghese (metro line A stop: Flaminio). For four days films, short films, documentaries made in Ireland will be shown, including a special section in Gaelic language.
