The ghetto was projected to lock up and control the Jews minority in 1555 by Pope Paul IV on 14th of July
The papal bull imposed economic and freedom restrictions to the jews . This oppression continued for 315 years until its abolition in 1870 (reunification of Italy).
At present, the Ghetto has become an attractive area full of shops , bakeries and kosher restaurants, bakeries and shops.
